Bus departing from Puglia crashes into an escarpment: one dead and 14 injured – video

A Flixbus coach with 38 people on board – which departed yesterday evening at 11pm from Lecce to Rome – crashed from the A16 Naples-Canosa motorway at around 4.00am for reasons yet to be ascertained. The accident occurred near the municipality of Vallesaccarda , at km 101, where the bus allegedly went off the road following a rear-end collision in which 5 cars were also involved. As a result of the impact, the heavy vehicle ended up in an embankment:

When the rescue services were alerted, the fire brigade arrived on the spot and recovered all the passengers and the two drivers. Unfortunately one of the passengers died while 14 were injured, three of them in serious condition. The wounded were transported to hospitals in Avellino, Benevento and Ariano Irpino. A 118 air ambulance also arrived at the scene of the accident, but did not intervene for any transfer. The bus was recovered with a fire brigade crane. Video links:
